My practice encompasses photography, video, installation, performance and sound. I use photographs of objects and people to question issues of artificiality and idealisation.
In my art work, photography is as much a subject as a medium. I am interested in how images are consumed and what they do to the consumer. For that reason I make work to be displayed in the commercial visual realm as well as art galleries.
The Relics series was made as the threatening counterpoint to the bright glossy appeal of Lure. Reminiscent of devotional artefacts and ceremonial figures such as totems, votive candles, and janus figures, these relics connote an overvaluation of commodities and the ideological social values disseminated by product packaging. They are objects of worship – they seem powerful.
